iGuy – Cool kid-friendly iPad case

cool ipad cases for kids

iPad cases for kids - special needs ipadsLeave to my daughter’s cool auntie and uncle to find this unique iPad case. It reminds me of Gumby. It’s free-standing and rubbery with these ingenious handles that allow kids (and adults) to easily hold and use their iPad. We haven’t put it to the crash test or anything yet, but I can tell you that my special needs kid loves the soft feel of it and it really helps her hold on to the iPad. More info can be found here: http://www.squidoo.com/iguy, when you visit that page, be sure to check out the iGuy for iPod Nano or iPod Mini – hysterical!

My daughter’s iPad and this fun case made her Christmas! Now on to find great apps for her. How was your Christmas, any cool gadgets to share?

We got an iPad for our son David who has Dystonia, in hope that he would be able to use an app to help him communicate. So far though, his Dystonia has mad it difficult to manipulate the iPad. Not giving up home though. We will keep trying.

Hi Dayna, my daughter has a hard time with it as well, but like you we keep trying – It could open up huge doors for her! Right now she enjoys it most for movies because she can hold it close to her and feel the movie, and some games.

      ***Update***
You inspired me! I’ve set up a Genius bar appointment to see if there is some functionality that could help the iPad work better for V. I’ll write a follow up if I learn anything new!

      Hi again Dayna,

I spent some time yesterday at the Apple store Genius Bar to see how to make the iPad work better for V. They were awesome! My daughter has good dexterity, but drags her fingers and was frustrated because she’d lose the page before she could find the area she wanted to hit – plus a few other things. The “Genius” changed some settings resolving those issues, I can’t wait to see if this makes it more usable for her. I decided that it would be a good idea to go in regularly and address frustrations V has, the iPad has so much functionality built in and it’s so quick for the experts to find solutions to specific problems. This is a free service. Maybe there are some setting changes that can be made to help your son use the iPad easier?
