When we were searching for our sprinter van, one thing on our wish list was a trailer hitch. We’d read that trailer hitches were hard to install on a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Van so they should be installed by a dealer, or better yet, factory installed from the manufacturer. To custom order a MB sprinter van meant about a year wait, but finding one on a lot with all of the options we needed, especially 4 wheel drive, was really tough. It took some time to find the van that checked most of our boxes, of course when we did the one we found had everything we wanted except the trailer hitch. After the van arrived we called around and got quotes for up to $2,000 to install a hitch! My husband decided it would be worth a try to order the hitch via Amazon Prime and see how it was to install. What trailer hitch fits my 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Van?
Finding the right hitch for our 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Van was a little confusing at first, but Amazon said that the Reese Towpower 44576 Class IV Custom-Fit Hitch with 2″ Square Receiver opening was the correct trailer hitch for our 2016 Sprinter Van without bumper step. A cross reference with the Reese website confirmed that. Don’t assume that this is the right trailer hitch for your sprinter van – please double check!
The trailer hitch arrived a couple of days later as promised. As it turned it was surprisingly easy to install a trailer hitch on a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Van (says my husband). It arrived a little dinged up, but we (he) fixed that so it’s looking great and ready to haul some toys for our next adventure!
